Brooklynbadboy over at the Daily Kos has an article up about why
the economy in Germany is kicking butt. One of the things Germany
does is HELP the unemployed start businesses with start-up capital.
What a great concept that has many benefits to the unemployed.

This is what we need here in the United States. I could see our economy
thriving and people creating and developing great businesses. There is
a 20-30% failure rate in Germany for these grants, but over all 70-80%
of the people given these grants go on to succeed.
When people have the opportunity to apply themselves and create things
that are passionate to them good things happen. Their self esteem improves
and they have a reason for getting up and going to work and making things
happen. Most people in life like to work and want to make a difference.
When people have been unemployed unfairly or for long periods of time.
Then have to go work at a fast food place or some other menial job they
lose their self respect and self esteem. They start drinking and doing some
type of drugs and they get in a downer mood and it could lead to depression.
So giving people a reason to develop and create a business is an awesome
idea and I think would be a huge benefit to many people in this country.
There is another organization called Kiva that helps people around the
world with loans that you have to pay back. http://www.kiva.org/
So in conclusion this is a great idea that could boost our economy in great
ways and also help the unemployed get back to work and keep their self
respect and self esteem in check. Plus they will in return provide work
for others depending on how many employees they need to operate.
